happy weekend!

Wow, I can't believe its Friday already!  I've been meaning to post these pics of my peonies all week, but it just hasn't happened until today.  This week was the first week of the summer class I'm teaching, and between prepping, commuting, and other odds and ends, this week has just flown by.  But I'm so happy its the weekend!

I have a little confession - I may love flowers, but when it comes to gardening I have a black thumb.  Luckily, these peonies were planted by our home's previous owner and come back strong every year.  And they were so pretty I couldn't resist cutting a few to bring into the house.

aspirations

I will no longer feel guilty for my book buying addiction. Instead, I now have a goal to work towards.

in the garden

Planted some new mums, happy to see some coming back.

furniture needed

More pressing than a new sofa, we really need a buffet for the dining room. I don't think the folding table on bed risers is really cutting it. I really like this glass door cabinet from IKEA. I think its time to plan a trip. (Perhaps picking up some new chairs wouldn't hurt either.)

behind the couch

We have a big expanse of wall behind the couch in our living room that I'm not quite sure what to do with. I love the idea of this shelving unit - its narrow enough to not take up room, but could be rearranged frequently. (Of course, looking at this makes me want a new couch too.)

my dining room

I love my dining room table (especially when its all clean like this). I first fell in love with this table in an issue of Martha Stewart Living while I was in grad school, and discovered it was made by Crate and Barrel. Sadly, it was out of my budget. Then, one day while shopping with the girls, we discovered the floor sample of my table on sale for $350! What luck! Its such a beautiful, solid wood table - without a doubt one of the nicest pieces of furniture I own.
