I've been working on lots of new promotional materials to get ready for the gift fair - postcards, and catalogs, and the new website - but I keep getting stuck every time I try to write the copy.

At this point, I'm just a little too close to the product. So I need your help!

I've been anxiously awaiting the release of Chris Anderson's Free: The Future of a Radical Price for months.  Since it came out on Tuesday, while we were still at the beach, I reserved a copy at the local bookstore so I could be sure to have it right away.

Imagine my surprise when I got home from the beach to find a Free copy waiting for me.  (Ok, I shouldn't have been too surprised, since I did request it.)  The good news for you, my wonderful readers, is that I've now got an extra copy and I'm giving it away!  (Sorry though, I'm keeping the copy signed by the author - blogger's privilege.) 

All you have to do is leave a comment on this post, and on Monday afternoon, I'll pick a winner.  

And in case you're wondering, I'm about 3/4 of the way through the book, and so far, its excellent.  It's really got me thinking about new ways to approach my business.  (I'll post a full review here once I'm done reading.)

Why am I hand delivering the cozy/cuff, you may ask.  Well, on Thursday, I head to Phoenix and Tempe - first up a visiting artist gig at ASU, then the Museum Store Association Expo.

Thanks to everyone who suggested a retailer!  So many of those are places I would have never discovered on my own.  I'm still cranking away on my four weeks of marketing - this week I'll be working on compiling a list of stores and press to send info to.  Plus, I'm working on a major website re-design.  (Not to mention prepping for my trip!)

if you were to attend a little art/craft/design business gathering, what sort of topics would you like to see presented? And how much would you be willing to pay for a 2 or 3 hour event? What if it included food or drink?

happy holidays + giveaway

I hope everyone is having a wonderful holiday.  I've certainly enjoyed taking a break from work to spend time with my family.

After all the stress about gift giving, I decided to give an additional gift to some of my family.  I ordered these fantastic, recycled soda bottle bags from Enviro-Tote and hand drew this design on them.  Giving out a reusable shopping bag seemed to be a great way to start the new year.  Of course, I kept one for myself, and I love how roomy and sturdy it is.

wish i was there + contest

I saw this photo on Creature Comforts this morning and definitely had a "wish i was there" moment. Let the countdown to April commence...

But Joe and I are headed to Ohio this weekend to visit some friends, which is still more fun than staying home.

Plus, in honor of my birthday next week, I'm holding a little contest.
